Main Street reconstruction to begin 10/22

Reconstruction of Main Street from Fulton Street to Maple Street will begin October 22.

J-A-G Construction Company, Dodge City, will complete this project. The project will replace the existing asphalt over brick over concrete pavement with new 9” concrete pavement.

The initial work area will be the center lanes from the railroad tracks to Maple Street. Traffic will be carried one lane each way in the outside lanes, so that all traffic is controlled by the railroad crossing arms. On-street parking on Main Street and cross traffic at Santa Fe Street will not be allowed. This portion will take eight to ten weeks to complete.

This $498,140 project is jointly funded by the Kansas Department of Transportation and the City of Garden City.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact City Engineer Steve Cottrell or Assistant City Engineer Alex Mestdagh at 276-1130.
