Work soon underway on new City website

A new user-experience will soon greet visitors to the City of Garden City’s website. The Garden City Commission has unanimously approved a contract with Vision Internet to provide website development and hosting services.

“I like to compare our current website to a giant filing cabinet,” said Communication & Project Manager Ashley Freburg. “It contains a lot of good information, but unless you’re the one who put it there, you don’t know how to access it.”

The new website is expected to be more user-friendly than the current site is. It will also be designed with mobile users in mind.

The Commission authorized the Mayor to sign a two-year contract with Vision. The initial cost to create the new website will be $38,050. The City will pay $9,000 in the second year.

The site will continue to be found at www.garden-city.org. The rebuild is expected to take up to eight months.
