Studies all phases of the present and future operation, expansion, planning and management of all facilities at the Garden City Regional Airport and makes appropriate recommendations to the City Commission. Resolution No. 1652 establishing this Board states this vacancy must be filled by a city of Garden City resident. Return to List

Landmarks Commission:

Duties are to advise and make recommendations to the City Commission on historic resources and to look after the architectural and cultural heritage of the community through the preservation of historic landmarks and historic districts. Ordinance No. 2179 establishing this authority states all members must be residents of the City of Garden City. Also, 3 members must be members of the preservation-related profession as defined by the National Park Service. Studies all problems, concerns, policies and programs of the Police Dept. in an effort to solve problems and promote a smooth, harmonious relationship between police and public. Resolution No. 1387 establishing this Board requires one representative from 12 special interest groups. Youth Council:

The purpose of the Youth Council is to advise the Governing Body on issues related to or affecting youth in Garden City and further (1) to motivate all young people to help build up the Garden City community; (2) to help the youth of Garden City aspire to become successful leaders; and (3) to encourage local youth in their efforts to bring about change for the betterment of the community. Membership shall reflect the diverse ethnic composition of the community, ages 15 to 18, grades 10 through 12, and the terms of their service will run until their high school graduation. Serves as a quasi-judicial board to review and approve requests for variances from the zoning regulations and grant conditional use permits when appropriate. Board hears appeals from enforcement decisions, conditional use permits, variances, and all actions of Board are final unless challenged in District Court.
