Duties

The duties of the Landmarks Commission are to advise and make recommendations to the City Commission on historic resources and to look after the architectural and cultural heritage of the community through the preservation of historic landmarks and historic districts. Ordinance No. 2179 establishing this authority states all members must be residents of the City of Garden City. Also, three members must be members of the preservation-related profession as defined by the National Park Service. Each individual considered for these three positions must provide his / her credentials that will be maintained on file for public review. Please fill out an Advisory Board Application if you are interested in serving on a commission.
