Patch 20172

What is an ISO rating?

The Insurance Service Office Public Protection Classification rating (ISO rating for short) is used to help establish appropriate fire insurance premiums for residential, commercial and industrial properties. The program provides an objective, countrywide standard that helps fire departments plan and budget for facilities, equipment and training. ISO's evaluation program includes 10 classifications, with 1 being the highest and 10 being the lowest.

What are the ISO ratings in Garden City and Finney County?

The Public Protection Classification (PPC) for Garden City is a Class 2 ISO rating. Property outside of Garden City that is within five road miles of a Garden City fire station, and within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant, may also be classified with a Class 2 ISO rating.

The Public Protection Classification (PPC) for Finney County, excluding Holcomb, is a Class 4/10. Property outside of Garden City that is within five road miles of a Garden City fire station may be classified with a Class 4 ISO rating. Property outside of Garden City that does not meet the ISO criteria is classified as a Class 10 ISO Rating.

Most insurance providers recognize this rating schedule and determine their risk and premiums based on the criteria set-forth by the Insurance Service Office (ISO). To see where your home is located in relationship to the Garden City Fire Department fire stations, use this link.
