Responsibilities

Andy Liebelt serves as the Public Grounds Superintendent. The Parks Division is responsible for maintaining and managing over 300 acres, including the city parks system, a 3-1/2 mile walking path, and grounds surrounding city office buildings and other public facilities. The Parks Division is responsible for designing irrigation systems and landscaping areas for new projects as well as erecting new playground equipment in an effort to continually improve the parks system for all citizens of Garden City to enjoy.

Park Amenities

Garden City currently has 11 parks, which include 12 picnic shelters, 11 playground areas, four basketball courts, a Funshower Water Station, and four restroom facilities. Residents may also take advantage of the Talley Trail the city's 3-1/2 mile walking/bike path extending from Hager Addition to the Tangeman Sports Complex. The city is very proud of Stevens Park, a three-acre park located in downtown Garden City on Main Street. It is home to a large bandshell with generous seating and is host to many of our annual events including the Summer Outdoor Concert Series, Beef Empire Days, and Art-in-the-Park.

The Garden City Parks Division is dedicated to providing the best park system possible by adding beauty and enrichment to the lives of all our citizens. In our endeavors, our goal is to help keep the "Garden" in Garden City.
