Paying Your Bill

Sec. 90-83. - Monthly billing.

The City Clerk shall cause each customer to be furnished monthly by mail a statement of such customer's service account. Failure to receive a bill shall not excuse a customer from the obligation to pay within the time specified. A month as used in this section shall mean a period approximately 30 days.


The City of Garden City offers several convenient payment options listed below: 

Online:

Pay as a guest with no user sign up required.  Simply enter your account number and payment information.

Establish a user account and have access to more account information, statements, and payment options including:    

  •  Recurring Payments.  Sign up to have your utility accounts automatically paid each month on the due date with a debit/credit card. Each recurring utility account payment will be treated as a single transaction and posted to your debit/credit card as such. 
  •  Manually pay multiple utility accounts at the same time.  Enter the amount you wish to pay for each account and select 'Pay Accounts'.  Each utility account payment will be treated as a single transaction and posted to your debit/credit card as such.

A $3 fee will be added to all online payment transactions processed.  This fee is to help offset some of the costs of providing the customer with the option of paying online. 


In Person:


The City of Garden City accepts cash, check, money order, credit/debit cards both inside or through our drive-up window from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., as well as a secure drop box located at:

  • City Administrative Center (Service and Finance Office)

By Phone:


Visa/Mastercard/Discover/Debit Cards/E-Check

Beginning September 1st, 2016, we will be accepting payments over the telephone.  Please call 620-276-1100 and select #1 to make a payment.  You will be redirected to our interactive voice software.  Follow the instructions as given to make your payment.  *This is a speech recognition application, so the system may not respond correctly if you are in a noisy area.  To call the payment line directly please dial 620-271-1404.

Automatic Bank Withdrawal:

Never pay a late charge again! Automatic Bank Withdrawal conveniently debits the amount due from your checking or savings account on the statement due date. To set up your account for Automatic Bank Withdrawal, print the Application and Contract for Bank Debits of Utility Bills form, complete it, and return it along with a voided check or deposit slip.


REMINDER:  Please be aware that if you make payment through YOUR bank's online banking system, you should allow 7-10 days for the payment to reach us.



Budget Billing Plan

Take the guesswork out of your monthly utility bills. Set up a predictable billing amount with Budget Billing. Budget Billing averages a stable monthly billing amount based on your service history. Customers are eligible for Budget Billing after service has been established at a location for at least 12 months, and must have a zero balance.  Adjustments to the budget amount are made annually. The Budget Billing Plan works in conjunction with Automatic Bill Payment Plan.  Please contact the Service and Finance Office to find out your what your budget billing amount would be at 620-276-1100.
