African Plains

Two large, open yards dotted with tall stately trees are reminiscent of the African Savannah where herds of hoofed animals move about in search of their favorite grass or forb. Here you will see African pygmy goats and the desert adapted Addax antelope. Moated viewing areas allow visitors an unimpeded view of these African ungulates.

You will also see the East African Crowned Crane.  These monogamous birds can sometimes be seen performing energetic mating dances.  They are also the only crane that can perch in trees.
