The Finnup Center for Conservation Education (FCCE) is home to the Lee Richardson Zoo's Education Division which provides environmental and conservation education programs to over 35,000 people annually.  Organizations and educators from Western Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas travel to the zoo to participate in unique and interactive animal programs.  Whether students are learning about math, geography, science, communications or other subjects, animals are a wonderful way to make their studies fun, engaging and relevant.  Animal exhibits and interactive graphics featuring microscopes, magnifying glasses, computers and more fill the halls of the Finnup Center, encouraging children and adults of all ages to get "hands on"!

The Finnup Center is also home to the zoo's Administrative offices and the Friends of the Lee Richardson Zoo, a non-profit organization that raises funds for zoo improvements.  The FCCE features two classrooms, a distance learning studio from which our staff broadcasts conservation education programs across the country and beyond, and two meeting rooms which are available for public use.

The Finnup Center opened in 1996 and was expanded in 2010 to accomodate an ever increasing demand for our educational programming and beautiful meeting facilities.  The original building was made possible by a gift from the Finnup Foundation Trust and is operated by the City of Garden City

The Finnup Center, located at 312 Finnup Drive, is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to Noon and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, except holidays.
