Commission Candidate Filing Deadline Approaching
Four seats on the Garden City Commission will be up for election in November. Those interested in running must file with the Finney County Clerk by noon on Monday, June 3.
The City Commission is primarily responsible for setting city goals and policy guidelines, approving city budget measures, and providing direction to the city manager. The City Commission is a five-member governing body elected at large by the public.
To be eligible to run for election, candidates must be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States, and must reside in the Garden City corporate limits. A $20 filing fee is required, along with a $50 disclosure fee. All checks must be made payable to the Finney County Clerk. Candidate filing packets are available in the Finney County Election Office located at 311 N. 9th Street.If more than thirteen candidates file, a primary election will be held August 6. The General Election will be November 5.
