“To assist the public in the protection of life and property by minimizing the impact of fire and potential disasters or events that affect the community and environment.”

About Us

The Garden City Fire Department is responsible for the following:

  • Department administrative services
  • Fire prevention
  • Code enforcement
  • Fire suppression
  • Technical rescue
  • Hazardous material response
  • Airport rescue and firefighting
  • Vehicle extraction
  • Fire investigations
  • Assisting Finney County Emergency Medical Services and providing mutual aid for neighboring fire departments

The Fire Department provides full service to the City of Garden City (8.84 square miles) and Finney County (  1,302 square miles) through two locations; Central Fire Station, 302 North 9th Street, and Labrador Fire Station at 1605 East Mary. Service to the Garden City Regional Airport is provided at the GCRA Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Station located at 2225 South Air Service Road.

The most recent Insurance Service Office Public Protection Classification Survey (PPC) was completed in March 2016 resulting in an ISO rating of 2 effective September 1, 2016.

Fire Chief Bill Beaty directs all activities designed to fulfill the Fire Department’s mission.
