The IT & Communication Department is a service department responsible for improving, maintaining, and troubleshooting the City's technology assets and communication needs. As of April 2017, the department supports 311 users and 396 computers at multiple locations throughout the City of Garden City. The department maintains 40 servers, 2 main firewalls, and 39 switches. Two teams exist within the IT & Communications Division. They are:
This team is responsible for most help desk tickets and provides technical support for the City. This team also manages servers and the network, maintaining hardware, software, and connectivity components. The team is led by Computer Services Manager Clay Billings.
Communication & Special Projects
This team is responsible for development and execution of the City’s Communications Plan, research and management of special IT projects, and administrative responsibilities for the department. The team is led by the Communication & Project Manager Jamie Stewart.
The City's IT & Communications Department uses a help desk system to receive and track requests. Requests for service or assistance should be submitted to Help Desk. They should not be submitted to individual members of the department.
IT personnel are on call during non-business hours. This includes mornings, evenings, and weekends. If you have an IT issue that needs immediate attention during non-business hours, please call the on-call line at 620-271-1790. Help Desk tickets are not monitored after hours. IT personnel that are not on-call will not answer calls to their cell phones or email outside of business hours. If the on-call person does not answer the phone; leave a detailed message and a number where you can be reached.
