Tree & Power Lines

The Electric Department hires trained, qualified tree trimmers to keep tree branches out of primary high-voltage power lines. Our biggest concern is your safety and the reliability of your electrical service. When tree branches interfere with a power line, they can interrupt service and risk fire, personal injury, or even electrocution. Trees are pruned to keep them a safe distance from these power lines.

Planting Trees

When planting a tree or landscaping, please keep in mind existing electrical equipment. Visualize the mature size of a tree when planting so it will not interfere with power lines. Do not plant or landscape close to underground utility transformers or other equipment (green utility boxes). The doors to those boxes must be free of anything that could limit access.
