To become a Garden City Firefighter, you must successfully pass a series of different testing processes that will determine your suitability for the position and our department.

Typical components of a firefighter hiring process may include, but are not limited to the following events (order of and actual events may vary):

• Applying for job openings / Submitting the job application with your resume
• The physical ability test
• Telephone interview
• The Hiring Group interview
• Skills testing
• The background investigation
• The medical evaluation
• The recruit academy
• The probationary period
