City Cereal Malt Beverage Licenses may be obtained from the City Clerk's Office located on the second floor in the City Administrative Center, 301 N. 8th Street.
Who Can Apply
Any individual or business intending to sell Cereal Malt Beverages (beer with no more than 6% alcohol by volume) within Garden City limits must apply. Applicants must meet all state and local requirements, including age restrictions and background checks. A Cereal Malt Beverage License will only be issued after the business has successfully passed inspections by City Code Enforcement and Fire Inspectors and Governing Body approval. To apply for a State of Kansas Cereal Malt Beverage License, visit the Kansas Department of Revenue website.
Fees Per License Year
Retailer for On-Premise Consumption (e.g., restaurants, bars) – $200.00 per year
Retailer for Off-Premise Consumption (e.g., grocery stores and convenience stores) – $75.00 per year
Special Event Cereal Malt Beverage Retailers License – $50.00 per event
Fees are set by city ordinance and are non-refundable. The license year runs from January 1 through December 31.
Additional Information
Applicants must comply with all Kansas state laws regarding the sale of CMB.
Background checks are required before approval.
Licenses must be renewed annually before expiration.
Additional zoning or location restrictions apply.
If selling CMB at a special event, a temporary permit is required.
